Performances are over
This weekend 4 performances took place in the Ivy Falls Theater in Second Life. And every performance was well attended - with around 90 persons on the sim per each things got laggy - but the sim did not crash and performances went smooth despite the continuing crashes of some of the actresses.
Comments of the audience regarding the shows were all positive and people regarded this show as an extraordinary piece of work: moving, touching, sad, humorous, enlightning, inspiring...
Performances ended with the reading of Eve Ensler’s letter “Welcome to the Wetlands”, an invitation for V-Day’s mega two-day anniversary celebration in New Orleans at the New Orleans Arena and Louisiana Superdome on April 11-12, 2008 - V TO THE TENTH.

IN THE PINK premieres March 8
"IN THE PINK" celebrates the strength of women, exploring sexuality and what it means to be a woman in real life and on Second Life. The diverse collection of voices and actors guarantees a unique and highly entertaining experience in both theater and in Second Life, as well as an opportunity to contribute to organizations that support programs that free women from violence. The play will be performed by avatars from all over the world using voice and backed by slides, offering insight and provoking discussion.
This extraordinary exploration and performance is under the direction of Calliope Delgado and producers Lauren Weyland, Rekka Berchot and ToryLynn Writer, with the assistance of members from ActUp Theatre Company, Virtual Light Studies, INKsters, the Written Word and many other groups in Second life.

VAGINA MONOLOGUES DEPART SL - PRODUCERS SEE PINK!
Late last week, the V-Day organization rescinded permission to mount two live performances of the controversial piece in-world, due to concerns over possible breaches of international performance rights.
SL's production of the "Vagina Monologues", the first of its kind for V-Day, was to have raised funds for its campaign to end violence against women.
Despite the setback, SL Producers and cast members have rallied, unanimously deciding to present a new play to support V-Day... albeit in altered format.
"In the Pink", penned in part by women of Second Life, and incorporating an extract from the "Vagina Monologues", is currently in production. It will feature V-Day's tenth anniversary "Spotlight Monologue", a salute to the women of New Orleans.
"Clearly we're disappointed ", says Director Calliope Delgado. "But we're overwhelmed by the strong support already shown by the residents of Second Life, and our mission continues to be to raise funds for V-Day.org
V-Day has agreed that we may continue to use their logos in our production and fundraising efforts. They have also agreed that we may use "Welcome to the Wetlands" and letter from Eve Ensler in our production to promote V-day in New Orleans later this year."
"In the Pink" will celebrate the strength of women everywhere and call attention to the problem of violence against women," she said. "It will be our take on female sexuality and what it means to be a woman, in RL and SL."
Production of "In The Pink" is well underway, with performances slated for early March 2008. Information on venues and ticketing will be released soon.
